2021 Financial Review (report attached) – Charles Jenison
-Completed by Paul Mankofsky. No discrepancies found

CHNYC Bravo Zulu Sailing Scholarship – Donna DeAscentis
-Donna introduced program being researched by Donna, Gardner Howe and Jane Eaton
Name: CHNYC Bravo Zulu Sailing Scholarship
Tagline: “Extending the Life-Lessons of Sailing to Military Youth”
Purpose: Provide select military youth an opportunity to experience the personal growth benefits of learning to sail.
Target audience: Military youth that have demonstrated a propensity for leadership and/or civic responsibility, and who might otherwise never get a chance to sail.
-More information on resources and funding requirements to be provided at future meetings.

CHNYC Sail Training Program – Kim Lyons
-Approached Mike Silvia (Marina Manager) and Paul Mankofsky (Lead MWR Instructor) about reimplementing the volunteer sail instructor program
-Great feedback from email sent to prior volunteers with options for augmenting the MWR team. Eight of those members agreed to volunteer.
- Navy requires certified instructors. NAVSTA Newport MWR program is a certified US Sailing program. Instructor certification required within one year.

-Discussion within meeting group on the MWR/CHNYC relationship. Kim will forward the Navy policies that outline the relationship.
-Proposed pilot program to demonstrate our commitment
-Lead instructor to be named

Bowling Event – Karen Lynch
-February 5th, 1730
-One hour bowling, shoes, pizza, soda for $12 plus tip
-Contract to be sent to Treasurer
-Will send info to Pat for posting and registration

Old Business
WAA update – Kim Lyons
-31 wreaths sold in 2021 = $155.00 income
-Kim will follow up with WAA for payment

Reciprocity – Pat Tormey/Kim Lyons
-Meeting scheduled with QDNYC Commodore. Already noted that QDNYC belongs to the Yachting Club of America, has paper membership cards and 6 moorings throughout the bay
-Deferred meeting with Bristol YC with leadership turnover. Pat created a letter offering use of moorings. Kim recommended that we wait until the moorings are permitted and legal counsel completed.

Membership Cards – Pat Tormey/Kim Lyons
-Pat designed a card for the website. The pdf file can be accessed with a QR Code.
-Tripp mentioned standard procedure is to also have a letter from the Secretary when visiting yacht clubs
-Newport YC provides rigid cards with stickers signed by the Secretary for annual updates.
-Kim will check the CHNYC files and contact Newport YC for sample letters
VOTE: Create an electronic membership card with QR code access. Motion to approve by Jeff Schuldheiss, second by Colin Nevins. Motion carried

Store - coins, burgees, masks – Kim Lyons
-First two coins orders were filled incorrectly as antique copper. Third order was antique gold and correct. Initial inventory 450 coins. Cost $5.00 or $10.00 if mailed.
-Charles volunteered to manage the inventory
-Kim will keep the masks and bring to events

Committee, Fleet Captain, Special Asst Updates
Training – Bill Kneller (absent)
-Winter training – Bill working on splicing class at West Marine
-RI DEM Safe Boating Class - Charles
Reserved Newport YC, has books and instructors
Will work on dates
Course required for individuals born after 1987 and prior to taking MWR boating courses

Facilities & Property – Kim for Anne Mitchell
-Lawyer to schedule follow up meeting with Harbor Master to finalize type and permit costs for moorings.

Race Committee – Rich for John Hanus
Rhodes 19 Fleet Captain – Rich Coupland
-Working on NOR & SI. Will send to race skippers for feedback
-Questions concerning USCG Marine Event permit – EC will send link to application

Cruising – Walt
-Nothing further to report

Shields Fleet Captain – Ron Oard
-Still waiting to hear the Shields status for 2022
-Kim will also follow up with Mike Silvia

PHRF Fleet Captain/Protest chair – Tripp Alyn
-Yacht Club Challenge to be held on July 16th
-Kim will send NBYA race list and check with Sail Newport for annual schedule
-In prep for upcoming season, looking for boats to add to the fleet and can assist with PHRF certificate

Women's Race Program – Donna DeAscentis
-Nothing to report this month

Telltale Coordinator – Joe Gabriel
-Nothing to report

Social Director – Karen Lynch
2022 Events
-Bowling - Feb 5, 2022, 1730, Seaview Lanes - Karen and Maurice
-Spring Commissioning - we still have $500 at Newport Playhouse, Jeff will request refund.
Karen, Kim and Jeff will meet with Sail Newport to look at venue. Still need event chair.
-Meet and Greet – will ask David Dill
-Pizza Party & Swap Meet – Joe and Donna Gabriel volunteered to chair
-Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet
-Army Navy Game
