Race Committee meeting - April 18th

The race committee plans to meet on Wednesday, 18 April at the O'club Topside at 1700. The Wednesday series NOR is posted on the CHNYC website http://www.chnyc.org [and below as an attachment]. The Wednesday SI will discussed at this meeting; it will be posted on the official notice board by 9 May after the marina office opens. Competitors [skippers and crew] for the 2012 Wednesday Series are invited to attend. This will be an opportunity to meet our race officers and answer your questions. We have scheduled a Practice Race on Wednesday 16 May . . . not part of the summer series but a chance to check-out your boat and crew. The Wednesday series begins on 23 May and continues for 20 weeks. 18 April may also be an opportunity for the Fleet Captain to hold a boat lottery and distribute information on tuning standing rigging. I could not get reservations at the Topside on Wednesday 18 Apr because it is comedy night. I'm working with MWR to "use" the Harbor Conference Center room "C" [same place we use for sail and powerboat training]. Their initial reply is that MWR will charge us $100 to use that room -- I/we are not on their "list" and I don't want to pay or charge admission. I think we'll get approval [without the charge] but stranger things have happened. My fair-weather plan for the standing-rig tuning "hangout" may be held at the Marina Office. You'll have to BYOB to TYOB. Chuck

Thanks to Greg O'Shea, CHNYC has room C reserved for the RC meeting/hangout on 18 April . . . without charge. I'll be sending [gCalendar] invites to skippers and crew who are in my 2012 racer group contacts. You'll be able to reply yes, no, maybe to the Gvite. All CHNYC members may attend [without a private Gvite] but the first 16 yes-replies should get a chair at the table. Others may participate space-A and stand. The best way for 2012 competitors to get on my racer-group contact list is to fill out the racing [entry&crew waiver] form at http://www.chnyc.org . It also helps to have paid your membership dues and fees . . . but not required until we start the Wednesday series on 23 May [the early birds get the chairs]. Racers will find background files/references for tuning [and other stuff] at the [url]race.chnyc.org > seminar references. I encourage you to download/print some of the references so you can take notes [handouts will not be distributed to save trees and toner].
