We need student commitments by 30 December!

The CHNYC Cruising & Power Squadrons are offering a program that will enhance your nautical skills by improving knowledge on boating safety, rules of the road, and navigation. The course provides the opportunity to obtain a USCG Captain’s license for the Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV also known as the Six-pack license). You do not need to pursue your license to take this course. The 56 hour course will run sometime between 20 January through 2 March.

This announcement is a solicitation for club members who want to take advantage of this training and provide requirements to obtain a Captain’s License.

What: Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels OUPV Training

Where: Battleship Massachusetts, Fall River, MA

When: Late January until early March. Participants will establish meeting days and times.

Cost: $600 - 50% due at enrollment.

FAQs:

1. What are license requirements?

- Age 21 or over

- 360 days underway experience (4 hours in any day counts toward this requirement)

- 90 of those days in the last 3 years

- Physical, drug test and eye exam

- Valid CPR/First Aid card to Valid CPR/First Aid card (American Red Cross, Heart Assoc. or USCG Approved course)

- Completion of the USCG exam OR Completion of a USCG approved course

- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card)

2. How long is the training?

- 56 classroom hours

3. Where do I take the final exam?

- On-site last day of class.

4. Do I have to take the exam?
- No, you can take the course to expand you nautical knowledge.

5. Who are the trainers?

- American Boatschool
