Time to get ready for the 2012 PHRF Racing Season!

Post by TrippAlyn »

The 1st race of the 2012 season is less than 2 months away. Here are some key mileposts looming on our horizon: 1. If you haven't received your 2012 PHRF Rating Certificate renewal form in the mail, contact PHRF-NB or go to their website: http://www.phrf-nb.org Start this process early so that you'll have your rating when it's time to race! 2. April 24 - Jamestown YC Skippers Meeting 7pm at the Jamestown Firehouse. You can submit your JYC registration forms along with a copy of your new 2012 PHRF Certificate here. 3. May 8 - Race #1 of the JYC Spring Series. For their complete 2012 racing schedule visit the JYC website: http://www.jyc.org Click on "JYC PHRF Racing" in the left margin for the schedule and read important RC notes highlighted below the schedule. "Calendar" will also note many JYC events. "Download Files" and "Race Circular" will get you to their Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions (NOTE: not yet available). FYI, you can also retrieve Past Years racing results at the bottom of the JYC PHRF Racing schedule page. 4. Nothing is yet posted for Newport YC PHRF racing. If you are interested in Newport YC, NBYA, outside 1-design keelboat or any other racing events please contact me ASAP. 5. Oh...and BTW, continue working on your boat(s) to get them ready IN TIME!! Any questions? Best wishes for a fun, successful 2012 Racing Season! Tripp Tripp Alyn CHNYC PHRF Fleet Captain (c)401-743-4030

Tripp, Thanks for the PHRF info. I've already received my PHRF renewal from Pat. Rhapsody should be ready for the spring series since we started to work down all the items on the list last weekend. This weekend promises to be another good time with weather supporting! For those who don't know, [url=http://www.defender.com/warehouse-sale.htm]Defender Marine in Waterford, CT is holding their annual sale Thurs 29 March through Sunday 1 April. They have a facility the size of a Home Depot with great prices and many manufacturers reps there for the event. You can really go broke saving money there! I plan on making an annual pilgrimage for Rhapsody.

Thanks, Bill, for the headsup regarding the Defender Marine sale. I bought my first Racelite (delrin) blocks for my Penguin at Defender when they were on Broadway (just above the financial district) in New York City....in 1971. Glad to hear that your PHRF certif. has been issued. We'll get more folks from CHNYC to get on the bandwagon & do it early (hint, hint....). Tripp

Yes, for sure thank you Tripp for the reminders. Look forward to seeing everyone down at the docks! Bill, I know you are also a follower/participant of the Leukemia Cup. FYI the new website is up and running and open for registration now. The race this year is June 2nd. Best to all, EC

2012 JYC Entry Form is Posted

Post by Rhapsody »

The 2012 JYC PHRF Series Entry Form is posted on the JYC website. As of 30 April, the race circular still has not been posted. It should be the same as last years according to my conversation with Cheryl Rienzo.

Thanks for that info, Bill. All PHRF Racers-----the JYC Race Circular containing the Sailing Instructions is now available at the jyc.org website under "Download Files" and then "Race Circular" as a pdf file. Please contact me if you need any help with getting your boat registered, applying for your PHRF rating or any of the details of the SIs. Bill Kneller is the tunemeister and will be available for consult. All PHRF Sailors please NOTE: read SIs # 9.2 & 10 regarding navigation limitations. This year we can only use the center span of the Pell Bridge and cannot sail inside the "keep off" buoys around the work barges. Also, only "Can 13" and "V" (both north of the bridge) may be passed on either side. According to the JYC SIs all other govt. marks must be observed. Good Sailing! Tripp PHRF Fleet Capt.
