What a joy it has been in the last few years to get together in Bristol for two days of feasting, camaraderie, and patriotism! As a change of pace from downtown Bristol restaurants, arrangements have been made at the Herreshoff Marine Museum on Monday, July 3, to have a buffet dinner barbecue, catered by Russell Morin Fine Catering. The cost is $50/ person, with a cash bar, but a 10% discount applies when you make your reservations on the museum website, www.herreshoff.org, and use the promo code CHNYC.

On July 4 itself, we are again the invited guests of the hospitable Cathy and Garry Holmstrom, whose historic home, Four Eagles, has been the site of feasting, parade watching, and more feasting for many years now. Cathy and Garry open their home for a buffet breakfast before the parade as early as 7 a.m. (Most people arrive around 8:30 or so)Then everyone proceeds to the sidewalk at about 10:30 to see bands, floats, and marchers from all over the US, and even some foreign countries. Cathy and Garry have some folding chairs but if you have your own, please bring them along. After the parade concludes in the early afternoon, another great treat is in store: a delicious lunch barbecue in Four Eagles back yard.
To help Cathy with the menu for the day, you are asked to contribute a dish for either the breakfast or lunch. For the breakfast, fruits of any kind are welcome, as are cheese plates, pastries, muffins, bagels. Side dishes of salads, veggies, pickles, fruits, cheeses, dips, or imaginative creations of your own would be lovely for the lunch barbecue. ?BYOB.
