The meeting date and time is set for Thursday, 19 November at 7:00pm via Zoom. You can expect the meeting to last approximately one hour in which we’ll conduct our required business AND then share in a post-meeting HAPPY “1/2” HOUR SOCIAL! Please join us…. we need to see each other!
One of the purposes of the meeting is to elect officers to the executive board. This year we will elect a new Vice Commodore as Roland Hansen is stepping down due to a career change. We will very much miss Roland who, fortunately for us plans to stay in the area. Roland has nominated our very own Adam Schalk as the new vice commodore and Adam has accepted the nomination. As you know Adam and his wife, Kat have been serving as our Social Directors. We will vote to elect Adam at the meeting via Zoom with the best quorum we can achieve given the current restraints COVID has placed upon us. I’m also happy to report that all other current officers, rear commodores, fleet captains, and special assistants have agreed to remain in their current positions for the 2021 season. Many thanks to all! This is the only formal business that we need to conduct this year as we are not modifying the by-laws, etc.
You will also hear from your board members on their specific focus areas regarding their perspectives and plans for 2021. Finally, as a reminder, with board approval we have extended any paid 2020 memberships, both individual and family, to be applied to the 2021 membership year.
Next, we are working on other ideas, information, training, and personal experiences that we can share as a club which, along with COVID constraints may also change the traditional format of the Telltale. You will see emails on these actions soon as we leverage social media to create a possible new face for the club. Also, at our recent board meeting we were reminded to “focus on what we CAN do, not what we can’t do”; to embrace the “spirit of the club” that has sustained us for many years. We will keep this forefront on our minds as we weather the upcoming winter.
