CHNYC Members,
On behalf of the CHNYC Executive Board and in accordance with articles 4.1.2, 4.2, 4.6 and 4.7.4 of the CHNYC bylaws, I am calling a General Membership Meeting and Election to take place on June 2, 2025, at 1800 via Zoom. We will vote to elect a Vice Commodore.
Election: CAPT Jill Skeet, NC, USN resigned from the Vice Commodore position. We are grateful for the time Jill spent serving in this position! Bylaws Article 4.1.2 states that either the Commodore or the Vice Commodore shall be a person on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States. Our current Commodore is a DoD Civilian; therefore, the Vice Commodore must be on active duty.
Any person qualified in accordance with the provisions of CHNYC Bylaws paragraphs 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.3, 4.1.4, and 4.1.5 may be nominated for office by the Nominating Committee or by petition signed by five regular members. Notice of persons nominated for positions of officers shall be provided to each regular member no less than two weeks prior to the General Membership Meeting; therefore, additional nominations or petitions for this election must be presented to the Secretary no later than May 19, 2025 to be valid.
Current Nominations: The Nominating Committee nominates Lieutenant John Nothacker, USN for the office of Vice Commodore. LT Nothacker is assigned to the Surface Warfare Officer School. He grew up sailing at a local yacht club in Philadelphia. For the past two years he has been racing Shields on weekends with Ron Oard (Past Commodore), including crewing for the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta and Shields Nationals in Marion and Larchmont. LT Nothacker enthusiastically agreed to accept the nomination for the position of Vice Commodore. Unfortunately, his term in office will be short as he transfers later this year. Please refer any questions concerning this nomination to Kim Lyons, Immediate Past Commodore and Chair, Nominating Committee.
