Associate Members who do not have a Military/DoD ID may be added to the Naval Station Newport Master Base Access list to facilitate access to the Marina and the Officer's Club. This access is subject to a background investigation and is renewable each season. An Associate Member who desires Naval Station Newport Access needs to submit their date of birth and social security number to the Commodore who will provide this information base security who will conduct a background check.

Once authorization is provided by Naval Station Newport Base Security, you will be allowed to drive through the main gate to enter the base. You will need to show your current driver's license. The vehicle must have valid registration and insurance.

The following information from the Commodore is for those Associate Members who are granted Naval Station Newport access.

The list is submitted at the end of each month. The list submitted will only include paid CHNYC members for the current membership year stating 1 April. If you paid your membership after 1 January you are a current year member.

There has been some difficulty getting access to the base. In an attempt to resolve these problems I met with the base security people to develop a better procedure.

1) Say you are on the MASTER BASE ACCESS LIST

2) Can’t find you or the list. Tell them to call the WATCH COMMANDER who has a copy.

3) Can’t get the watch commander CALL DISPATCH who also has a copy.

4) Can’t find Dispatch as a last resort call someone in security work hours 401-841-2122 after hours Mr Fuller cell 401-871-8881, Mr Torres cell 860-326-9054

Note - base access for Associate Members is no longer authorized by Naval Station Security unless the individual with the appropriate ID card is an authorized Military Member, DoD or Dependent.
