Wednesday Series Race Management
Posted: January 17th, 2014, 3:23 pm
The Race Committee met on 15 January. The committee approved the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for the 2014 series.
With the nod of the CHNYC Executive Committee on the race fee and another nod by the USCG on the Sailing Instructions they will be official and posted on the CHNYC website. Our milestone for the NOR is early February. The SI will be published on 7 May - after the boats are in the water and competitors assigned boats . . . by Fleet Captain lottery.
Not much changed in the rules but the dates. There will be two 10-week series that start in May and end in October. Boats will assigned race committee duties in an appendix to the SI.
There will be a practice race on 14 May that will not be scored. It will be a chance for the race committee to test our race kit and the competitors to fine tune their boats.
MWR will splash the boats in April and probably open the Marina Dockoffice on 1 May. We will then have access to our active Official Notice Board.
The Naval War college is planning to hold their President's Cup Spring Regatta in R/19s on 16 May. Their NOR may be posted next month.
If you want to get in on the boat lottery contact the R19 Fleet captain at Rhodes19@chnyc.us. Email the Race Committee at race.chair@chnyc.us .
