2016 4th of July Cruise to Bristol - UPDATED

Post by jschuldheiss »

[u]July 3rd + 4th: Cruise to Bristol 4th of July Fireworks and Independence Day Parade. There are three events that require a response if you plan to attend. Welcome to summer, and the always fun and memorable cruise to Bristol on July 3-4! Festivities begin on the evening of July 3, with gathering for dinner at 6 pm at Leo's Ristorante, 365 Hope Street. Boaters generally arrive sometime during the afternoon of July 3, and either moor at one of the yacht clubs: Bristol Yacht Club, Bristol Marine, and Herreshoff Marine Museum (advance reservations necessary), or anchor in the bay and dinghy to shore. Folks who wish to drive into Bristol are welcome to do so, come to dinner, and watch the fireworks display happening that night over the bay. The day of July 4th is always a fabulous experience, thanks to the hospitality of Cathy and Gary Holmstrom, who open their gracious 1806 colonial home, Four Eagles, to members of the yacht club. They host a brunch at their home at about 9 am, put chairs out on the sidewalk in front of the house (did I mention that Four Eagles is on the parade route?) for observers to watch the floats and marchers strut past, beginning at 10:30, and at the conclusion of the parade, provide a fabulous barbecue in their back yard for all attendees. After the barbecue, most boaters cast-off moorings, but many continue to celebrate Independence Day during an extra long weekend in Bristol. All these activities require RSVP's to Motria at your earliest convenience, and you can pick and choose whichever parts you want to attend. Dinner at Leo's - 6 pm, Sunday, July 3: management can put us in a large private room (depending on our numbers) and we can order off the menu and have individual checks. Brunch at Four Eagles - 9 am: contributions for the buffet, such as fruit bowls, fruits of any kind (there can never be too much fruit), pastries, bagels, coffee cakes, are welcome. Another popular item at last year's brunch was a cheese tray - it disappeared very quickly and certainly will do so again. Lunch Barbecue at Four Eagles: Cathy will provide the main course (hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork), but any kind of salads, side dishes, appetizers, veggies, and /or desserts can also be used. Please bring your own adult beverages, and any soft drinks you may want. Please contact me at motriab@yahoo.com or tel:904-471-3643 with the event you are attending, the number of people in your party, and what item you're bringing to the Monday events at Holmstroms'. Looking forward to hearing from you, and seeing you at this patriotic and fun weekend!
