DRESSING SHIP - preparing for the 4th of July

Post by TrippAlyn »

To help you in preparing to honor America on her birthday, by dressing ship in the marina, or wherever you may be---here are some simple guidelines for you: “On the Fourth of July, and similar National holidays, and when ordered on other occasions, a yacht in commission shall, when at anchor and the weather permits, dress ship from morning to evening colors. Rectangular flags should as far as possible alternate with pennants, following this order: starting from forward: AB2, UJ1, KE3, GH6, IV5, FL4, DM7, PO Third Repeater, RN First Repeater, ST Zero, CX9, WQ8, ZY Second Repeater. Ensigns, burgees, private signals and Flag Officers’ flags shall not be included among code flags and pennants in the hoist in dressing ship. More than one set of signal flags may be required to complete a full hoist from waterline to stem, to all trucks, to stern, then to waterline.” HAPPY FOURTH!! Tripp
