Post by chuck.kesson »

Length (feet): 25ft Engine make: Volvo Primary fuel type: Diesel Beam (feet): 8ft Engine model: MD3B Fuel capacity (gallons): 30 Hull material: Fiberglass Trailer: 1956 USN 26’ Motor Whale Boat Newport, RI A scarce and historical fifty-five year old double-ended MK S MWB for sale. The MK S was one of the earliest USN MWB5 built at the Navy Norfolk shipyard with solid GRP construction. The MWBs were all-purpose small craft used for taking liberty-bound sailors ashore in their fresh uniforms and much later taking the same happy sailors back to their ship. It was also used for mail and movie runs and open sea rescues and transfers. This MK 5 is located in Rhode Island and is original in most aspects. Presently the boat is stored at Casey’s Marina, Newport RI. A three cylinder 36 HP Volvo EWC diesel engine (MD3B) was new when installed in 1984 and has 180 hours. This engine has the closed keel-mounted fresh water cooling system so no heat exchanger is required. The exhaust discharge is separately cooled by seawater.
